Beach Yoga - Mt Martha

Over the past few weeks Jan has been holding yoga classes on the beach out the front of the Mt Martha life saving club. Taking in the sound and smell of the ocean along with the morning sunlight makes yoga on the beach a memorable occasion.

Jan teaches and practises the Satyananda Yoga style of yoga.
Most yoga classess will be made up for three of four different elements:

  1. Asanas- to strengthen, stretch and bring vitality to the whole body, performed with meditative awareness and adapted to personal ability.
  2. Pranyama - working with the breath to awaken, balance and expand the reserves of prana (life force) and induce a profound sense of mental poise.
  3. Satyananda Yoga Nidra - a simple but extremely deep meditation which systematically relaxes every layer of our being.
  4. Meditation - to expand awareness and develop the serenity and focus needed to ride the waves of life and dive more deeply into our inner nature.

Satyananda Yoga is often described as an integral, as it brings together a number of branches of yoga so that the whole person can develop and evolve. Is provides practical tools for living with tangible benefits that are accessible and availble to all.

About Jan - Yoga in Mount Martha

Jan Winslade's business is called Yoga by the Bay and is located in Mount Martha.
Her background is in nursing and her knowledge of the body and mind is extensive and broad.

Yoga by the Bay offers regular weekly yoga classes that suit everybody from behinners to advanced.

Yoga classes consist of postures, gentle stretches to release tightness and tension in the body, breathing practises to bring balance to the mind and nervous system, relaxation and meditation to create peace of mind, focus and clarity.

Jan is an accredited yoga teacher; she is currently a member of the Victoria Yoga Association.
She was inspired to teach and share the power of yoga after finding it so beneficial in her own healing at an early age.
The style of yoga that Jan teaches is Satyananda which is also known as hatha yoga.

Jan is also a reiki master and practitioner who runs regular workshops in Mount Martha.

Jan has a passion for guiding and teaching people to listen to their hearts and body; she enjoys assisting people to reach their potential, to live their lives with love and joy.
